| The golden rule to obtain spiritual understanding is obedience. If you desire knowledge and insight into the teachings of Jesus, you can not pick and choose what you will be obedient to. If spiritual things seem dark and hidden, then I can be sure there is a point of disobedience somewhere in my life. Spiritual darkness is the result of something I do not intend to obey. No one ever receives a word from God without instantly being put to the test over it. We disobey then wonder why we don't grow spiritually. The teachings of Jesus hit us where we live. He instructs us down to the last detail. The Spirit of God uncovers our spirit of self vindication and makes us sensitive to things we never thought of before. When Jesus shows you something through His Word don't try to evade it. Selective obedience is still disobedience. "Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or if I speak on my own." (John 7:17) |  |  | |
